Symbol, not font
These cards keep your letters and add symbols between them. Great when a font style is not accepted.

Symbols come from many Unicode blocks. If one shows as a square, skip that card.
Usernames
Most username fields only take letters, numbers and a few symbols. Use these in display names.
Why Symbols Are Often Better Than a Fancy Font
Fancy fonts replace your letters with different characters. Symbols leave your letters alone and decorate the spaces around them. That makes symbols the lower-risk option in two situations: where a game or site filters out Unicode lettering, and where you want your name to stay searchable. The letters are still the real letters.
The cards on this page are all of that kind. Type your name and each one shows it with a different symbol between the letters, in front of it or wrapped around it.
A Quick Map of Symbols People Use
Symbols fall into a few families, and knowing which is which makes it easier to choose.
- Stars and sparkles: ✦ ✧ ★ ☆ ✩ ⋆ ˚. Soft, neutral and the safest all-round choice.
- Hearts and flowers: ♡ ❥ ❀ ✿ ❁. Warm and a bit romantic. Common in aesthetic and coquette profiles.
- Crosses and blades: † ‡ ✞ ⚔. Gothic and gamer. Frequent in clan names.
- Arrows and lines: ▸ ➳ ⟶ ━ ┃. Structural; useful as separators between a name and a role.
- Brackets and frames: 【 】 『 』 ⟦ ⟧ ⌜ ⌟. These make a tag or a title.
- Music and weather: ♪ ♫ ☾ ☁ ☂. Moody and gentle.
Where Each Kind Works
Instagram and TikTok display names accept almost all of them. A single ✦ or ♡ next to a name is the usual look. Check the Instagram name style page for field-specific notes.
Games are stricter. Brackets and simple stars often pass; hearts and emoji are hit and miss. Try the PUBG and Free Fire pages for sets tuned to gaming.
Usernames almost never allow symbols. Underscores and periods are normally the only decoration you get.
WhatsApp and Telegram take most of them in names and About lines.
How to Combine Symbols Without Overdoing It
One symbol family per name. If you're using stars, don't add hearts, and don't add a crown. The names that look good tend to follow a simple pattern: left decoration, name, right decoration, and the two decorations match.
Keep spacing consistent. Some symbols are wide and need a space on either side; others look better pressed against the name. The cards show the version that looks balanced for each symbol, so start from those.
Also remember character counts. Many symbols sit outside the basic range and take two units of space in a counted field. A name with six of them can hit a 30-character limit sooner than you'd expect.
Copying Symbols So They Do Not Break
Copy directly from the card rather than retyping, because many symbols look alike. The vertical bars │ ┃ | and | are all different characters. Paste into a notes app first to confirm nothing changed. If you see a hollow square on your own phone, the symbol isn't in your device's fonts, and others on the same system will see the same square.

A Small Glossary of Symbol Families
Unicode groups symbols into blocks, and knowing a few of the names helps when you go looking for more. Dingbats hold stars, flowers, crosses and hearts like ✦ ❀ ✞ ❥. Miscellaneous Symbols holds weather, music, card suits and chess pieces: ☁ ♪ ♠ ♞. Geometric Shapes gives squares, triangles and circles: ◆ ▸ ●. CJK Symbols and Punctuation is where the 【】 and 『』 brackets come from. Arrows and Box Drawing supply lines and connectors.
Most of these were added decades ago, which is why they are widely supported. Newer additions, especially emoji, are drawn less consistently on older devices.
Examples of Symbol Layouts
Some layouts you can build in seconds: a mirrored pair, ✦ Name ✦; a left-hand tag, ⟦ TAG ⟧ Name; a separator style, Name · Role · City; an arrow flow, Name ➳ studio; a trailing heart, Name ♡. Each uses one symbol family, and each can be pasted into a bio line, a display name or a nickname.
Try to read the result at small size. If you can't tell where the name begins and the decoration ends, remove a symbol.
Symbols and Accessibility
Screen readers announce each symbol by its Unicode name, so a name with six symbols can take several seconds to read. A single decorative symbol is easy to tolerate. A long row is tiring. Keep your real name in plain text somewhere nearby, as the blog guide on fancy text and accessibility explains.
Symbols to Be Careful With
A few symbols carry meanings that can cause trouble. Religious and political symbols can offend or be reported on some platforms and in some games. Currency signs and warning triangles can make a name look like a scam account. Look-alike characters borrowed from other alphabets can trigger impersonation filters. When in doubt, stick to stars, hearts, brackets and dividers, which are neutral everywhere.
